Beer Tasting and Star Gazing

(Suggested age 5 - root beer served, to Adult)

Set your eyes to the sky to view the summer spectacular meteor shower at this fund raising event. Enjoy a tasting of Rapscallion's beer, or house-made non-alcoholic root beer. Water, soft drinks, pretzels and chips are also included. The Perseids meteor shower will be at its peak between August 9 and 13.  View the half moon, its craters,and Saturn through a high powered telescope. Of course the shooting stars and constellations should be amazing with the naked eye!  Amateur Astronomers, Geoff and Kim McLean from the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society will provide the telescope and trained eyes to help you focus on some wonders of the night sky.  A great way to relax with friends on a summer evening.  

Date: Wed, 8-10 PM, August 10 (overcast/rain date: Thurs, Aug 11)  In case of overcast skies on Aug. 11 an astronomy show about the solar system will be held in the pavilion as you sip beer.

What to bring: Only red flashlights are allowed to protect your night vision for best viewing from the orchard field. Red cellophane will be available.  Bring a blanket or two to enjoy the magical night sky.

Fee: $15 Adults in advance, $20 at the door, $5 under 21.
