Founding of the Academy
Learn how the Academy was founded, as told by Col. Alfred Converse of Warren, in a speech given at the triennial reunion of the alumni association in 1900.
Glass Plate Negative Collection
Brimfield has been fortunate in having had two exceptional photographers whose combined productions covered a period of about seventy years. F. Edgar Brown was a trustee of the Academy during the 1890's and Walter E. Corbin was a member of the class of 1903. Over a long period of time they photographed residents and scenes of the town. A vast collection of their glass negatives are in the collections of the Hitchcock Academy Memorial Room and the Brimfield Town library. Many of the prints are available for
sale.
