The 4-H program is a nationally recognized youth development program whose motto is “To Make the Best Better”. Originally designed to provide youth with knowledge and experiences in agriculture in the early 1900’s, it has now grown to include modern technology as well. The program is supported through the UMass educational program and promotes leadership and mastery in identified areas. The Steerage Rock Riders Horse Club is the 2nd oldest 4-H horse club in Massachusetts. Over the years members have engaged in many activities including animal welfare/husbandry, equitation skills and have attended horse knowledge contests at the state and national level. We welcome both horse owners and horse lovers into our club.
The Barks-A-Lot Dog Club is approximately ten years old and provides members with knowledge and care of their canine friends. Members do not have to own a dog to enroll. In addition, members engage in community service activities such as Veteran’s Day cards, food drives, support for animal rescues, Earth Day and 4-H awareness and promotional activities. There is a $40 yearly participation fee for members. We typically meet 2 Tuesdays a month and are currently welcoming new members. Cloverbud (5-7 yr) Junior (8-13), Senior (14-19)
